Additional information about AN-2 biplane
The An-2 is the largest single-engine biplane ever produced. Its prototype was first flown on August 31, 1947. The An-2 is still in service all around the world, with An-2 flying in all the states of Eastern Europe and China, France, Greece, the Netherlands, CIS countries and Africa.
Being designed as a utility aircraft this huge biplane has become a multi-purpose aircraft used by the military, agricultural and commercial sectors. During this tour you will experience the flights on board of the most common An-2T version, which is the 12-seater passenger aircraft.
One of the advantageous design features of AN-2 biplane is its slow-speed and low altitude flight ability (it is possible to fly lower than birds’ flight), as well as ability to stop on short runways, to land on unsurfaced airstrips, to fly backwards (a rare ability even among Short Take Off and Landing aircraft).
